Dr Jane Powell

Dr Jane Powell is one of the most respected figures in international cricket and a globally recognised leader in the advancement of disability sport. A former Captain of the England Women's Cricket Team, she represented England in six Test matches and 24 One-Day Internationals, leading the national side to the 1988 Women's Cricket World Cup Final against Australia. Her distinguished playing career included a Test century against India and multiple championship-winning seasons with Yorkshire.

Following her playing career, Dr Powell dedicated herself to coaching, leadership and sports development. She served as Head Coach of the England Women's team before taking on senior performance and governance roles across cricket and other sports. As Disability Performance Manager at the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), she played a pivotal role in strengthening England's disability cricket pathway, nurturing elite athletes and championing inclusive participation across physical disability, learning disability and deaf cricket.

In 2023, Dr Powell made history as the first woman to serve as President of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, one of the world's most prestigious cricket institutions. Her presidency reflected her lifelong commitment to excellence, equality and the growth of the game at every level. She has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Worcester in recognition of her outstanding contribution to British sport and is an Honorary Life Member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
